THE SYMBOL

“Heavy traffic crowds a narrow strip of land connecting two seaside towns.”

Pisces 4° · Sabian symbols, devised 1925 (Marc Edmund Jones, clairvoyant Elsie Wheeler)

Remember to round up: a planet or point at 9°30′ takes the 10° symbol, not the 9° one.

What this degree describes

A single thin passage, asked to carry far more than it was built for, water pressing in on both sides. This degree is Pisces meeting its own bottleneck: two whole worlds trying to move through one narrow connection at once, everyone needing to get from one shore to the other along the same crowded strip. There is real tension in an isthmus like this, since the very thing that makes it valuable, that it connects two seas, is also exactly what makes it so congested.

When a planet or point falls here

A planet at this degree often shows real pressure at a single connecting point in a life, one relationship, one decision, one narrow channel expected to carry everything through at once. Mercury or Saturn here can indicate real skill managing bottlenecks that cannot simply be widened. It rewards patience with a passage that is doing more work than its size suggests it should.
