What this degree describes
Cancer opens with a formal changing of the watch rather than a first breath: the vessel does not change, only what flies from it changes, a signal to everyone watching that authority, mood, or belonging has shifted hands. This is the sign's first lesson, that home is not a fixed banner but one you keep replacing as you become someone new, while the actual ship of self sails on unbroken underneath. There is ceremony in it, not carelessness, since a flag lowered gets folded before the next one goes up.
