THE SYMBOL
“Amid a battle, a soldier carries the flag forward, unarmed but unmistakable.”
Sagittarius 26° · Sabian symbols, devised 1925 (Marc Edmund Jones, clairvoyant Elsie Wheeler)
Remember to round up: a planet or point at 9°30′ takes the 10° symbol, not the 9° one.
What this degree describes
Conviction, carried in the most exposed position on the field, on purpose: the flag-bearer does not fight directly, they simply make sure the cause stays visible to everyone, friend and enemy both, through the worst of the fighting. Sagittarius's belief system usually gets expressed in words, but this degree asks for a more physical, more dangerous kind of witness, standing for what you believe in plain view when it would be safer to duck down with everyone else. There is real courage in refusing to let the banner drop, regardless of what is happening around it.
When a planet or point falls here
A planet at this degree often shows real willingness to be visibly identified with a cause, even at personal risk, when others might prefer to stay anonymous. Mars or the Sun here can indicate someone whose conviction shows up as literal, physical visibility rather than private belief alone. It rewards keeping your own flag up exactly when it would be easier to lower it.
What cause of yours have you kept visibly raised, even when the fighting around it got genuinely dangerous?
