Gemini 26°

The traditional symbol for this degree, one of the 360 Sabian symbols first recorded in 1925: “Frost coats every branch in the woods overnight, and the whole forest briefly looks made of glass.”

THE SYMBOL

“Frost coats every branch in the woods overnight, and the whole forest briefly looks made of glass.”

Gemini 26° · Sabian symbols, devised 1925 (Marc Edmund Jones, clairvoyant Elsie Wheeler)

Remember to round up: a planet or point at 9°30′ takes the 10° symbol, not the 9° one.

What this degree describes

A hard, cold condition that happens to also be beautiful, arriving overnight without asking permission and transforming everything it touches. Gemini usually keeps moving to stay warm and engaged; this degree asks it to stop and actually look at a season that isn't comfortable, and notice it is stunning anyway. Frost is temporary too, like the ice of the twenty-fourth degree, but it carries a harder edge, less playful, more austere.

When a planet or point falls here

A planet here often shows an ability to find real beauty in difficult, cold conditions, grief, scarcity, isolation, without pretending they are anything other than hard. Saturn or Neptune at this degree favors an eye for the stark and the lovely occurring together. On the twelfth house, it can describe a capacity to sit with a hard season and still see what is fine about it.

What in your life right now is genuinely cold, and have you let yourself notice that it is also, somehow, beautiful?
