Aries 5°
The traditional symbol for this degree, one of the 360 Sabian symbols first recorded in 1925: “A triangle with wings.”
THE SYMBOL
“A triangle with wings.”
Aries 5° · Sabian symbols, devised 1925 (Marc Edmund Jones, clairvoyant Elsie Wheeler)
Remember to round up: a planet or point at 9°30′ takes the 10° symbol, not the 9° one.
What this degree describes
Geometry meets flight: a stable, three-sided shape given the means to leave the ground. This degree holds structure and freedom in the same image without asking either to apologize for the other. Aries is usually read as pure impulse, but here impulse has found a form sturdy enough to actually go somewhere instead of just igniting and burning out. The triangle is also, historically, a symbol of idea and ideal, three points meeting at a single vision; winged, that vision travels.
When a planet or point falls here
A planet at Aries 5 often carries ideas that want structure enough to be built, and enough lift to leave the drawing board. Mercury here favors concepts that actually deploy, not just theorize. On the Midheaven, it can describe a career built from a stable core that nonetheless keeps moving, expanding, or traveling outward from that base.
What structure have you built that is finally sturdy enough to risk giving it wings?
